Galileo Sol

What kind of computer would you design if you had no limits? This was the challenge undertaken by our engineering team at Uwatec. The result is Galileo, a completely innovative and new platform.

HARDWARE

Oil-filling technology allows us to combine an extra large rectangular display with a slim design, while enabling us to make the only dive computer on the market rated to 330m! At the same time, a totally separate battery compartment allows for a user-replaceable battery that can even be changed between dives with no loss of history or residual nitrogen memory!

Galileo utilises Multi-chip technology, a system that only activates the portion of the microchip that is actually required at the time. This dramatically reduces power consumption and increases battery life.

The screen is a high resolution Dot-matrix LCD. Dot-matrix means that we are not restricted in terms of the information we can display, for example, instead of an arrow to indicate a fast ascent, Galileo tells you, “ Ascent too fast”… in your choice of language! You can even customise your screen layout to provide the amount of information and digit size that suits you best.

SOFTWARE

The heart of the Galileo is the proven Uwatec Adaptive algorithm that gives you credit for good diving and good conditions and becomes more conservative when faced with poor diving behaviour or difficult conditions. Galileo’s software is able to adapt based on water temperature, heart rate, breathing rate and dive profile. You can choose between 6 safety levels and the Galileo can actually calculate your optimal safety stops instead of just the usual 5m/3min stop or an arbitrary ‘deep stop’!

HEART RATE MONITORING

UWATEC partnered with POLAR to bring you the first and only dive computer with heart rate monitoring. The faster your heart beats, the faster you in-gas. Galileo knows this and adapts your algorithm accordingly. Your heart rate can also act as an early warning system in times of high exertion or stress.

DIGITAL COMPASS

While this is not the first integrated digital compass, it is undoubtedly the best! Other manufacturers use a ‘tilt-sensor’ to detect when it is not held level, but their compasses actually only tolerate very slight tilt. Galileo uses a “Full-Tilt” compass that can operate at up to 90°. The compass is displayed on the full screen (with essential dive info still displayed) and allows you to easily set bearings and reciprocals.

AIR-INTEGRATION

UWATEC’s patented hoseless integration system differs from other systems in that once the computer is paired to the transmitter, it is paired for life. Other systems require pairing before each dive. Galileo can read up to 3 different transmitters for your different gas mixtures, plus an additional ‘Buddy Transmitter’ so you can monitor your buddy’s air pressure.

DOWNLOADING

Galileo has a built-in infrared port and comes standard with all software necessary to download. Your most recent 100 hours of dive profile are stored on the dive computer itself, meaning you can download at leisure without worrying about losing dives!

UPLOADING

Galileo uses an exclusive programmable chip that allows you to upload languages, pictures, text messages and your personal details using the  infrared! What’s more, you will be able to upload future software upgrades, for example Trimix capabilities!

Of course the Galileo Sol has countless other features, all of which are easily accessed through cell-phone style navigation and three push-buttons. Galileo is all the dive computer you will ever need and more!
