Volume
Volume is the internal space inside the mask. The lower the volume of the mask, the less water it can hold and the easier it is to clear, Equalisation of the mask air space at depth is also easier.
Skirts

Field of view
A good mask should have both good
horizontal and good vertical fields of view. The greater the view, the
better, but not at the expense of high internal volume. Some masks
offer good horizontal view but poor up and down. Other masks offer
excellent downward view but below average upward and sideways
view.
Bearing in mind that different masks will offer different vision on different people, select a mask that has a good balance of upward, downward and sideways vision.
